The Nanofabrication facility at Rome is located in a 500 square meters, 100-1000 class (ISO5 – ISO6) clean room. The facility is devoted to the fabrication of advanced optoelectronics components, microsystems and solid state devices and detectors. The core equipments include a wide range of fabrication (e-beam lithography, photolithography and thin-film technology) as well as nano-diagnostic tools. The objectives is set-up a facility allowing to support companies operating in the field of micro-nanoelectronics by providing several services:
CNR-IFN participates in the PNRR Research Infrastructure “Nanoscience Foundries and Fine Analysis – Digital Infrastructure” NFFA-DI.
CNR-IFN participates in the PNRR Research Infrastructure “INTEGRATED INFRASTRUCTURE INITIATIVE IN PHOTONIC AND QUANTUM SCIENCES” – I-PHOQS
In the Cryo Quantum Lab at IFN-Trento we develop and investigate several types of ultrasensitive superconducting and micromechanical devices, with special interest in the application to quantum technologies and fundamental physics. We have available a large dry dilution refrigerator with base temperature 20 mK, equipped with microwave and SQUID instrumentation, a wet dilution refrigerator and several liquid helium cryostats.
The IFN-Trento area of expertise includes investigation of local structure, crystallization, energy transfer, optical and spectroscopic properties of rare-earth activated glasses and planar waveguides prepared by several techniques including sol-gel route, RF-sputtering, and co-evaporation. Several original diagnostic techniques have been developed in order to assess the physical-chemical properties of synthesized materials.
