From May 17 to June 15, the historic Palazzo Giacomelli in Treviso is hosting “Our Space”, a powerful photographic exhibition celebrating the women who are transforming the aerospace industry.
The space sector is now seeing an increasing number of women making their mark—bringing expertise, passion, and vision to the field. “Our Space” was created to shine a light on these trailblazers, with the aim of inspiring the next generation of young women to pursue careers in STEM.
The exhibition is the brainchild of Sara Zuccon, an optical instrumentation engineer trained at CNR-IFN in Padua, who is currently active in astronomical research.
Backed by a network of academic, scientific, and industrial institutions, “Our Space” carries strong symbolic value: showcasing women in aerospace is not just about visibility—it’s about driving cultural change and fostering a more inclusive society.
Among the featured portraits are two researchers from the CNR Institute for Photonics and Nanotechnologies (IFN) in Padua, an institute deeply involved in the aerospace sector. They share their thoughts:
“Gender equality is a cultural, social, and professional milestone. Being part of this exhibition allowed us to share our work and our journey—and, hopefully, to help build a more inclusive future.”
First unveiled at Space Meeting Veneto 2024, the exhibition has since traveled to the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Milan and to the “Women Among the Stars” event in Abano Terme. It is now open to the public, free of charge, at Palazzo Giacomelli (Piazza Garibaldi 13, Treviso), the headquarters of Confindustria Veneto Est, during regular exhibition hours.
A celebration of talent and innovation, “Our Space” invites visitors to reimagine the future of aerospace—and beyond.

Donne nello Spazio: la mostra fotografica “Our Space” celebra le pioniere del settore aerospaziale
Dal 17 maggio al 15 giugno, lo storico Palazzo Giacomelli di Treviso ospita “Our Space”, una potente mostra fotografica che rende omaggio alle donne che stanno trasformando il settore aerospaziale.
Sempre più donne si stanno affermando in questo campo, portando competenze, passione e visione. “Our Space” nasce per dare visibilità a queste protagoniste, con l’obiettivo di ispirare le nuove generazioni di ragazze a intraprendere carriere nelle discipline STEM.
La mostra è stata ideata da Sara Zuccon, ingegnera specializzata in strumentazione ottica, formatasi presso il CNR-IFN di Padova e attualmente attiva nella ricerca astronomica.
Sostenuta da una rete di enti accademici, scientifici e industriali, “Our Space” ha un forte valore simbolico: dare spazio alle donne nel settore aerospaziale significa anche promuovere un cambiamento culturale e una società più inclusiva.
Tra i ritratti in mostra, figurano anche due ricercatrici del CNR Istituto di Fotonica e Nanotecnologie (IFN) di Padova, impegnato nel settore aerospazio. Ecco le loro parole:
“La parità di genere è un traguardo culturale, sociale e professionale. Partecipare a questa mostra è stata per noi un’occasione per raccontare il nostro lavoro e il nostro percorso—e contribuire, speriamo, a costruire un futuro più inclusivo.”
Presentata per la prima volta allo Space Meeting Veneto 2024, la mostra ha poi fatto tappa all’International Astronautical Congress (IAC) di Milano e all’evento “Donne fra le stelle” ad Abano Terme. Ora è visitabile gratuitamente a Treviso, presso Palazzo Giacomelli (Piazza Garibaldi 13), sede di Confindustria Veneto Est, durante gli orari di apertura al pubblico.
Un’occasione per celebrare il talento e l’innovazione, e per immaginare nuove prospettive—nello spazio e oltre.
