Maria Bondani, is a researcher at the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology of the National Research Council, active at the Department of Science and High Technology of the University of Insubria in Como, where she is Head of the Laboratory of Quantum Optics and Photophysics of Biomolecules and carries out university teaching.
Author of more than 180 publications in international journals (h-index 28) and numerous invited communications at international conferences.
Her research activity, mainly experimental but also including theoretical aspects (development of models, simulations), covers several topics:
– Radiation-matter interaction: fluorescence studies, nonlinear optics, quantum optics and light detection techniques in different regimes for the generation and characterization of optical states for applications to Quantum Information. In particular, generation of nonclassical radiation states, characterization of entanglement and violation of Bell inequalities.
– Quantum technologies: quantum algorithms on real computers (IBM and IonQ), quantum communication protocols.
– Teaching and popularization of Physics: laboratory and summer school activities (optics, robotics and automation, quantum technologies) for students and refresher courses for teachers, she is the creator and national coordinator of the CNR-IFN science popularization project “Italian Quantum Weeks” (2021-2024). She was national project manager of the European project Photonics4All for the dissemination of knowledge about photonics (2014-2016), local project manager of the European project PHABLABS 4.0 (2016-2019) and member of the European project QTEdu (2020-2022) for the dissemination of knowledge about quantum technologies.
